Blessed with a full life spanning 96 years, Charles Grady Giffin, Sr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on February 8, 1928. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Grady and Mary Payton Giffin; his first wife and the mother of his four children, Joan (Jody) Clouse Giffin; and his first grandchild, Neil Scott James.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Pat Giffin, and his four children: Charles Grady Giffin, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Deborah James of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Connie Hillier (John) of Bellville, Texas, and John David Giffin (Jennifer) of Houston, Texas. In addition to his children, he is survived by his grandchildren: Courtney Meek (Brad), Grady Giffin (Christi), Catherine Giffin, Abbie Woodward, Collin James (Brandy), Melissa Hillier, Scott Hillier (Katie), Emily Giffin, and Natalie Sebesta (Joshua); as well as thirteen great-grandchildren. He also cherished Pat’s children and grandchildren and always looked forward to spending time with them.
Chuck was raised in Atlanta by Henry and Mary Giffin. After graduating from Georgia Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering, he served in the Army and was stationed at Fort Rucker near Ozark, Alabama, where he met Jody, whom he soon married. He pursued a successful career in the oil industry, rising to the level of Vice President, and later embarked on a second career in real estate, becoming the President of the Fort Bend Realtors Association.
After Jody’s passing, Chuck married Pat, spending the next 28 years in her loving arms. Pat was a true blessing to Chuck and will continue to be for his family.
He loved the outdoors and was especially fond of hunting, fishing, and taking long walks on the beach with Pat, his family, and his first family during stays at their beach getaway.
Chuck was a man of strong character, wise counsel, hard work, humility, and a deep love for the Lord. He was an incredibly loving husband, father, and friend to all.
