Ronald Simpson Sr.

Ronald, fondly known as Ronnie, “Ron-Brody” or just Ron to his loved ones, was born on April 26th, 1958 at Lincoln hospital in the Bronx NY from the union of Minnie Simpson a native of (White plains, Georgia) and the late Raleigh Simpson a native of (Roper, North Carolina). Ronald was raised in Harlem, NY along with his younger brother Kenneth Simpson.

Ronald gave his life to Christ at an early age and he was baptized at Rocky Mount Baptist church. He was also a former member and usher here at Mount Bethel Baptist Church. Ronald was a talented, charming, and charismatic individual who could brighten up any room he walked into. He was able to put a smile on anybody’s face with the endless jokes he would tell. In 1976 Ronald graduated from Haaren High School in (NYC). After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he actively served in the military for 4 years. During his time in the army, Ronald worked as a military policeman within the 1st Armored Division stationed in Germany. After his time in the military, Ronald went back to school where he majored in Criminal Justice at John Jay College. After attending John Jay College, Ronald joined the New York City Corrections Department where he worked on Rikers Island from 1980-1982. Later on, in 1982 Ronald joined the New York City Police Department (NYPD) where he would go on to find his home at the 26th precinct located in Harlem NY. The colleagues he worked with there became family and he would often refer to them as some of the best cops in the world. He enjoyed what he did; he loved being a cop. He always used to say it was a ticket to the greatest show on earth, and you’ll always have a story to tell at the dinner table. Ronald dedicated 20 years of his life to serving the New York City Police Department and the people of NYC. He worked as an active member of the NYPD from the years 1982-2002 and then retired. In 2003 he Joined the Veterans Affairs hospital in the Bronx, NY where he worked as a VA police officer from 2003-2009.

When Ronald was in the 1st grade he met Renee Johnson and the two of them grew up together in the same neighborhood complex in Harlem NY. Later in life Ronald and Renee got married in 1986. Through this union came Ronald Simpson Jr and Rashone Simpson. Ronald had several hobbies that consisted of running 20 miles a day, watching a good movie with his family and friends, and watching the NFL football game or Major league baseball game. Ronald was a huge NY Giants fan and a diehard New York Yankees fan.

Ronald was a devoted father, son, brother, husband, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his two sons: Ronald Simpson (Jr), and Rashone Simpson, his mother Minnie Simpson, his Brothers Kenneth Simpson, Raleigh Simpson, and Grover Mcdowell, his sister Bobby Elliot, his sister in law Lisa Simpson, his niece Jasmine Simpson and The mother of his children Renee Simpson. Ronald also leaves behind a host of other nieces, nephews, several friends, other family members, and his brothers and sisters in blue. It is truly hard to believe that Ronald is gone. He was a shining star that burned out too soon. We all miss you, Ronald. Sleep well. Rest in paradise. You are now at peace and home with your maker. You will truly be missed.
