Bob was born in Brooklyn, NY, the youngest son of James and Margaret Murphy. He attended St. Francis Elementary School, and after moving to Staten Island he graduated from St. Christopher’s. He then graduated from Monsignor Farrell High School and received a BFA in art education from the Pratt Institute.
Bob was an artist, constantly creating. He was a painter, sculptor, graphic artist, designer, fabric artist and much more. Several years ago he started working with mosaics, creating beautiful icons. His work hangs in all our homes. Bob loved to work in his garden, hike, canoe, ride his bike and travel all over the world.
He was predeceased by his brother John Murphy of Massachusetts and nephew Michael Wisneski of Colorado. He is survived by his beloved wife Janet and his two loving children – his daughter Emily Tyrrell with her husband Rob Tyrrell and their son Connor Tyrrell of Suffern, NY, and his son Ian Murphy of New City, NY. Also by his loving sister Pat Wisneski and her husband Joseph, his brother’s wife Elaine Murphy, niece Alice Murphy Villalobos, nephews Matthew Wisneski, Courtland Rae, Daniel and David Barile, his sister-in-law Susan Drevitch and her husband Norman of Staten Island, NY and his closest friends Ed and Karen Quest, and Bill Javaruski.
Bob made us all grateful to be a part of his life. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern, NY, date to be determined.
