Peter Thomas Arvanites, Sr. of New City, NY died August 6, 2015 at age 95. Born June 18, 1920 in Monroe, NY to Thomas and Katherine (Bouras) Arvanites. Peter served honorably during WWII with the US Army 28th Infantry Division during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a POW and received a Purple Heart, the Silver and Bronze Stars as well as the Combat Infantry Badge. Peter was the co-owner of J&P Stationery and Luncheonette in Spring Valley and later worked as a Security Guard at Pomona Middle School. Survived by his beloved wife Helen, loving children Peter Thomas Arvanites, Jr. and Ronald Peter Arvanites (wife Christina), cherished grandchildren Nicole, Ronnie and Deanna Arvanites, a caring sister Marion Ramsay as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings James, Irene and his twin brother Charles. Visitation Sunday 2-4 & 7-9pm at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home 177 Route 59 in Suffern. Funeral Mass Tuesday 10am at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern followed by an interment at Germonds Cemetery in New City.
