Maureen F. Downey

Maureen F. Downey, a longtime resident of Suffern, NY, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, at the age of 78.

Maureen was a devoted wife to her beloved husband of 58 years, Rollin C. Downey, Jr. who survives her. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

She is also survived by love and laughter of her children and grandchildren. Her four children, Dawn Naimon and her husband Randy, Kathleen Downey, John Downey and his wife Michele, and Brian Downey and his wife Camille. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Lauren (Chris), Eric (Samantha), Mikenna, Walter, Chris, Tiffany, Sean, and Nicky and great grandchildren, Alex and Matthew. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Carol and Ann and many nieces and nephews, who held a special place in her heart.

Maureen was a woman who truly cherished time with her family and friends. Whether hosting holiday gatherings or enjoying quiet moments together, her warmth and kindness were the foundation of many fond memories. Her strong faith was reflected in her role at Sacred Heart Church, where she was known for her dedication as a CCD teacher. She also found joy in calling numbers and playing Bingo, where her sense of humor and friendly spirit were always evident.

A lifelong fan of music, Maureen had a deep affection for Barry Manilow, whose songs brought her comfort and joy throughout her life.

Maureen will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her unwavering love, generosity, and vibrant spirit will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Rt. 59 Suffern, NY. Funeral Services will be held at 8:30pm during the visitation. Cremation Services will be Private.
