Mary Josephine Vandunk

Mary Vandunk was born on April 3, 1941to the late Theodore and Armissie (James) Vandunk. She departed this life on Saturday, April 30. 2022. Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her longtime companion Willie Davis, her daughter Mary Joanne Vandunk, and sons William VanDunk and his wife (Enide VanDunk), Jonathan VanDunk, grandchildren Tenika, Alise, Brook, Isaiah, Jasmin as well as her great Grandchildren, Natalie, Juda and Prince. Mary also leaves behind her brothers James and his wife (Mabel Spruill) and Walter VanDunk and his wife (Susan VanDunk) and his sisters, Armissie Smith and Carol Jones and a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, David, George, Joseph, Brenda, Rodger and his wife which is present with us today.

Mary was a member of Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Zion church of Mahwah, NJ and was baptized there at an early age. She attended Sunday School and sang in the church choir. Mary spent her youth years growing up in Mahwah, NJ and became a longtime resident of Hillburn NY. Mary loved to laugh, dance, and have fun. She Loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. Mary had a deep and abiding love for Family and devoted herself to raising her children and grandchildren. She truly loved the Lord and could not wait to every Saturday for bible study with her brother and Sisters. She always took the opportunity to tell others about the importance of having a relationship with Christ. We all will miss her and as she would always say “May the blessing of the Lord be with you”.
