John and Mary were one of the reasons we moved to Sloatsburg NY.  It seems  like yesterday our kids played together. 
My husband and John rode to work every morning,   him chatting away the whole way.  
We brought a real fix it upper and John help renovate that first house of ours.  
I will never forget him and his laugh and raspy voice.
My deepest sympathy to Mary, Johnny and Theresa and their families.

John had the best accent, whenever he saw me he would say “Hey Katie!” In a way that reminded me that I was from New York.  So full of life.  I will miss his presence at family events.  My deepest condolences.

Johnny has a special place in my heart and I'll miss him terribly.   I know I'm not alone in that - Johnny was loved and admired by so many!  John was a steadfast friend,  and a wonderful human being, who always kept in touch and took the time to really listen and care about his friends.  
When I hear Johnny called "Big John"  it's not just his height that comes to mind but also his larger-than-life presence.   He had a great sense of humor and could fill a room with his distinctive voice and wonderful laugh.  And of course, there was his big, generous heart.   Over the years John helped many friends in need whether that be financially, through jobs, advice, or other favors. 
I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family whom he loved fiercely.  The world was a better place with him in it. 


So our hearts are breaking and when I say our I mean every guy and gal who grew up with big John for he will always be known as that.for me I lost a dear friend,an older brother I never had and  someone  I always looked up too. RIP big guy I will miss you my deepest to Mary and the Dwyer family

Johnny played a mean "Off The Point" and consistently hit three sewers in stickball on Andrews Avenue. That's what I wanted to do when I grew up.....and I still do. Happy Trails my brother!

May Allah granted him heaven and save John from the torment of the grave and the hell fire 🔥.  May John Rest In Peace  May the lord make it easy for the family in this time  Johnny was a good person and friend. We travel many roads in the Sanition Department I was the senior shop steward in Manhattan 12 John saved me many times from trouble when I was in my drinking, thanks my main Johnny D you will be missed . My deepest sympathy to the Dwyer and Harrison families. Johnny was such a wonderful person and will be so greatly missed. 

As a brand new supervisor in Manhattan, John came to me and said if you have any questions, you can come to me. I later became the garage officer at M3 and dealt with John daily. He always made me laugh and always looked out for me.  He had countless stories to tell but they always ended with what should be done properly  at work.  I had big shoes to fill when I was later assigned to Johns postion when he retired. God Bless and thank you for taking me under your wing. 

A great man who taught me so much while we worked together in DSNY. He helped to pave my career and I use a lot of the lessons he taught today.  John was very funny as well. Many laughs were shared whenever I saw him. RIP John.

I am so sorry to hear the news of Dwyer’s passing… what a great Man. Dwyer taught me many important lessons when I was a Garage Officer at M10 and he was the Snow Super at Manhattan Boro Office at DSNY. Dwyer was firm but fair and was always willing to teach rather than belittle. You will be missed kind Sir… may you forever rest in peace. Respect and Love…

I am so sorry to hear the passing of John. Thinking back when our girls were little, all the coaching he gave to them.  The fun we always had. He was a wonderful man. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

Very sad to learn of John' passing , we shared many laughs together at Con Edison and a couple of cold ones at Randall's Island after softball and football games . I left Con Edison in 1983 to work for the DSNY . To my surprise we continued to cross paths at DSNY until my retirement in 2003 . After that we reconnected on Facebook ... I always enjoyed hearing from him ... Rest Easy Always John .

Miss Band Aid will love you always John!! I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers for you & your family will continue. I will miss you.
