Susan (Sue) Mulcahy of Marlborough, formerly of Sudbury, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 11.
After graduating from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in 1983, Susan attended the University of Vermont, majoring in Economics and Sociology, and serving as captain of their NCAA Division I swim team. Susan excelled in her early career in marketing, being promoted to Vice President before the age of 35. She then carved a business niche in market research as founder and CEO of Channel Media & Market Research, Inc. She loved her hometown sports and proudly produced the Annual New England Sports Survey and created and authored Cooking with the Pros.
Susan brought her enthusiastic and generous spirit to every endeavor. She gave generously of her time and money to many causes and charities and inspired others to do the same. She was completely devoted to her family - a loving wife, faithful daughter, sister, aunt, in-law and friend. She was an unparalleled planner of magical vacations, holiday gatherings, and special events for her extended family and dear friends. Christmas trivia competitions, gingerbread house contests, and pizza cook-offs will be sorely missed.
Sue was predeceased by her father Thomas Mulcahy and her brother Thomas Mulcahy Jr. She leaves behind her husband and closest friend of 34-years, Michael F. Monahan, and their fur baby, Princess Casey; her mother, Margaret Mulcahy of Sudbury; brother Ted Mulcahy of Hatfield; sister Tracey O'Shea (Mike) of Medway, and her niece and nephew Leah and Evan, whom Susan loved most dearly.
She will be especially missed by her childhood best friend and soul sister Sarah (Beatty) Buller, "Aunt" Cathy Beatty and "sister" Elizabeth (Beatty) Wichmann; and by her sisters-in-law, who viewed her as their fairy godmother.
Susan was a beacon of light in this world, and those who knew her will always carry her in their hearts. In lieu of flowers, consider honoring Susan's generous spirit by getting involved at GoodSports.org or Project New Hope inc - Jeepers Christmas
