Still thinking about Scott 10 years later, 10 days after his birthday on March 26th, and 7 days (a week) before Easter.  We know that just like Jesus, Scott has risen, is living it up in paradise, and looking down on us from heaven at this time. Thinking and thankful for the military, armed forces, doctors, nurses and all those who sacrifice their lives to serve our country every day - especially during this chaotic time in America. He was a true American hero. Scott died on my mom's birthday November 30th, and the beautiful funeral ceremony put on at LS  fell on my birthday December 11th, 2010. What a date. Saddest birthday ever. I was born 10 years before Scott 12/11/97  as he was born in '87 and didn't know him well but since then, always looked up to him as an LS hero. I ended up being voted the LS Superhero as my senior superlative alongside Drew Baker. We would both dress up  head-to-toe in red, white, and blue at every LS sports game and our senior year, many of our teams were state champions or made it very far in the playoffs. I'd like to say that it was thanks to our school  pride that we spread throughout the school and fans in the bleachers, (and the amazing hardworking athletes that year ofc ;).However, I would like to attribute this spirit, mentality, positivity, drive, and love for one's team to Scott. I learned so much from him and his story that it has inspired  to live my life the way I do to serve others and spread this positive energy across the world. I have been fortunate to travel the world and just came from studying at the University of Sydney on the other side of the globe and unfortunately had to cut my trip short due to COVID-19, but I can honestly say, nothing quite compares to the LS community and the love we have here in my very own home town Sudbury MA, USA. Not a day goes by that I don't think about Scott's death.  It haunts me at times ...the consolation is that I know he believed in Christ and he is resting with God, waiting on us.

My wife and I just returned from visiting our son at Fort Campbell, KY.  At dinner with Josh and one of his fellow Army 1LTs we noticed that they both were wearing memorial bracelets for Scott, with whom they went through Infantry Officer training and Ranger School.  They wear those bracelets and think of their departed buddy every day.  I thought you would want to know that Scott lives on in the lives of so many of us in so many ways.  Our Nation's debt of gratitude can never be adequately repaid.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you always.

I am so sorry to hear of your family's loss. I know there are no words to say at this time except to let you know the thoughts of many are with you in this time of sorrow.  May our Father give you comfort and peace in the years to come.

To Scott's Mom....My heart breaks along with yours as only you, the Blessed Virgin and all mothers of the world know your pain...As MARY watched Jesus die for us, YOU have endured the loss of your beloved son Scott for US as well....I pray the Rosary every day and have included you and Scotty and will continue to do forever. My son is USMC also and a police officer in his town. My brother Craig is a friend of Steven and he has told me of the heartache and pride everyone feels for Scott. My son Tyler USMC will be deployed next year. Scott's passing pulls on our heart so much even though we did know know him personally. We know Scott has made this world a safer place for our son and all others that must follow in his foot steps. Our prayers are with the Milley family.

My dearest Scott, Scooter, Scotty....I can't stop thinking of you. You left such a hole in my heart it hurts. I know that Jesus needed you more so be happy on Glory's side and we will see you again to dance and sing like we used to do here. Although i did not know Scott i have heard many great things about him and i would like you to know that he was a true hero. From one look around yogur community it is obvious that he was truly a great man. You should be extremely proud of that hero and ángel above. Just know how brave he was and that i have been thinking about him and your family a lot. My fondest memory of your son was during military training over a year ago in BOLC II.  Scott and I were in the same platoon and we seemed to connect through music. One day,  I told him my daughter liked a Miley Cirus song and how I much missed her and over the next couple of days during the formations, he and another battle buddy would sing that song to me; I would smile and tell him that my daughter would love him, in turn he’d smile and we would start our day.  You see, you raised a great man, with a large heart and his presence will truly be missed.

On Christmas Day, our son informed us of Scott's passing.  He was in Airborne school with Scott at Ft. Benning and is now in Afghanistan.  He said that Scott was one of those guys that was 'just so full of life'.  From one military family to another, know that we grieve along with you.

A prayer was said in church on Christmas Eve in honor of Scott and your family. My family recently went through a huge sudden loss in October of my 20 year old cousin Nick, and we know how difficult it is to get through every day, but we have been given strength by knowing that he is always with us and watching over us, and know that Scott is doing the same for all of you. Scott may be gone, but never ever forgotten. He played hockey in high school with my brother Greg Loucas, and he was always someone Greg could look up to. I honestly remember at home Greg would talk about Scott being the nicest senior guy who really made everyone feel like they belonged to the team. Scott also always made the point to say hi to me in the L-S hallways knowing I was Greg's little sister. He was adored by many and has left a great impression in the L-S community and in this country as a hero. You are all constantly in my family's thoughts, and we are deeply saddened by this huge loss.

I was lucky enough to spend a week with Scott and my niece Krista.  What a guy. He was so good to my son and definitely left a lasting impression on all of us. Then yesterday I saw the signs on the fence and I was immediately struck with an ache and an emptiness in my heart.

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another. 

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to 1Lt Scott Milley our Brother-in-Arms .   To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Scott.  And to Scott it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan.  No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another.  Scott, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero.  With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure.  We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I did not know Scott but all I have read about him tells me he was a great young man.  May God grant you the strength to come to peace with this terrible loss.

I remember Scott well from his time at UNH in the psychology dept, as well as his sister Ashley, and I want to extend my heartfelt sympathy to your entire family.  He was always so polite when he came to the psychology office, and he was a true gentleman.  My son works at Hanscom Air force base, and he stood in line for the procession today to honor your son, and our country's hero.

Scott was a senior when I was a freshman at LS, and I probably saw him once or twice, but I never really knew him. News like this is always sad, but it's hard to relate to, when you don't really know the person involved.

But when I saw one of the news pictures, of Scott with his parents, I suddenly felt much closer. Because I very clearly remember when his parents came in, in my sophomore year at LS, to talk about Scott's experiences in Iraq, and how they were feeling about it all. They brought in an American flag he'd sent them from Iraq (there was some story related to it, that I can't quite recall, but it was very moving).

I talked to Mr. Milley afterward, and he asked me if I wanted to help him fold up the flag. I'd never folded up an American flag before, in military style, like that. I felt very proud of that, to be a part of that tradition, even peripherally.

My heart goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Milley, and all of you who knew Scott better than I did.

I am so terribly sorry for the loss of such an outstanding young man.  May the thoughts and prayers of perfect strangers somehow give your family peace.

Sorry for your loss.  I never had the pleasure of meeting Scott, but after reading all the articles that have been written about this amazing young man, I believe the whole world knows him.  May your memories help you through this difficult time.  I thank you for sharing Scott with the rest of us, and I thank Scott for making the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe.  He will be remembered always and in my thoughts and prayers.

To the parents of 1LT Scott F. Milley,

I want to express my deepest sympathy to you for the loss of your son. It is said that a man's character is his fate, and so it would seem with your son Scott. 
He died in the grander sense while answering the call at a time when his country needed its best to step forward. 
He died a soldier, and as such he died with his brothers, and for his brothers, so that they might have a chance to go home someday. 
May God bless you and your family, and may you find some comfort in knowing Scott's service and sacrifice will never be forgotten by the men he led, and the nation he served.

We're so sorry to hear of the loss of your son. He died a true hero in his service for our country. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Milley family at this sad time.  I want you to know that I think of Steven & Bob often. I have such fond memories of their youth when they played baseball and hockey for me.
