Robert Wilson

Robert H. Wilson of Framingham passed away on April 12th, one day after his 94th birthday. He was the son of the late Catherine (Foley) and William E. Wilson. A beloved husband of Dolores G. Wilson for 62 years, who predeceased him. Loving father of Robin Wilson Downing and her husband Michael of Medway, MA., Robert H. Wilson, Jr. and his wife Kristi of Westford, MA., and Dr. Leanne G. Wilson of Ashland, MA. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer and Meaghan Downing, Nathaniel, Kassandra, and Alexa Wilson. Additionally, he leaves his sister, Janet Holmes, of Chelmsford, MA and many adored nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Newman Prep Bob went to Boston College, where he played hockey. After a year on the Heights, he put his education on hold and enlisted in the Air Force with his brothers and neighborhood friends in 1950 during the Korean War. After 4 years of service, he returned to his hometown of Newton, MA, and began a career at Raytheon that spanned 38 years. While at Raytheon, Bob resumed his studies at Boston College, graduating in 1968 with a degree in Business Management. Raytheon not only had a tremendous impact on his professional career, but on his personal life as well as that is where he fell in love with his beautiful wife. He experienced the joy of working with family and friends over his long and successful career.

Following his retirement, Bob channeled his unbridled passion for golf into a second career by working at the International Golf Club and then at The Charter Oak Country Club for over 20 years. Bob’s engaging and welcoming persona quickly made an impression on staff and golfers alike. Bob was known for his storytelling. With a twinkle in his blue eyes and a wide grin he would recount in detail all his youthful tales of his brothers and friends and the many “situations” they got into.

Bob was a founding member of St. Anselm’s Parish in Sudbury, MA where he served on the finance committee, ran the weekly bingo game, and was a member of the parish bowling league. When the parish was slated for closure, he and Dolores were instrumental in keeping the parish viable by occupying the altar every Saturday night for nearly two years.

Bob will forever be admired and remembered as a loving husband, caring father, grandfather, and godfather, beloved brother and uncle, proud veteran, and a truly loyal friend.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made in his honor to the American Heart Association.

Visiting Hours in the Duckett Funeral Home of J.S. Waterman & Sons, 656 Boston Post Rd. (Rt. 20) Sudbury, on Wednesday, April 19th, 2023 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM. Funeral Mass at Saint Anselm’s Parish, 100 Landham Rd., Sudbury at 11:00AM. A private interment at Bourne National Cemetery with full Military Honors will take place at a later date.
