Mabel Richardson

Born in Weston on April 19, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Charles Oliver and Laura (Woodworth) Richardson.

Loving sister of Laura Payson of Needham; proud aunt of Penelope Tarrant and her partner Frank Agnes of Mashpee, Charles O. “Cort” Richardson III and his wife Ginny of East Montpelier, VT, Elizabeth Paré and her partner David Fate of Edgecomb, ME, Lucy “Amy” MacDonald and her husband Paul of New Hampton, NH, Jonathan Rand and his wife Margaret of Laconia, NH, Faith Rand and her husband Brian Donahue of Weston, Timothy Payson and his wife Sara of Plymouth. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Theodore G. Rand of Bedford and many great-nieces, great-nephews and two great-great nephews. Mabel was predeceased by her brother, Charles O. “Corry” Richardson, Jr.; by her sister, Lucy Richardson Rand; by her brother-in-law, Samuel Payson, and by her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Richardson.

Mabel was a graduate of Buckingham School, received a bachelor’s degree from Bryn Mawr and a master’s degree from George Washington University. She performed secretarial work at various places including many years at the Channel 2 Auction. She was lucky enough to have traveled the world in freighters, knitted hundreds of items for the less fortunate, remained an avid reader and loved bingo. Mabel resided at North Hill in Needham for over 20 years and the family would like to thank the staff for the wonderful care she received.

The service will be at 11AM on Friday, April 13th, at the First Parish Church in Weston, 349 Boston Post Road, Weston. Burial will be private.
