He attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and Rindge Tech, and graduated from Wentworth Institute in 1942. Mr. Meenan served with the US Army Air Corps in WWII, Pacific Theater, as a tail gunner on a B-24 Liberator. He worked for Egyptian Chemical Co., Cole Hersey Co., and for 36 years was employed by Raytheon Corporation, at first in Newton and then at Wayland Lab.
He married Joan Spottswood in 1949 at St. Patrick’s Church in Watertown, and moved to Sudbury in 1951.
He was a parishioner at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Maynard, and helped to build Our Lady of Fatima Church in Sudbury, which he attended for many years. Mr. Meenan was a member of the Holy Name Society there, and served as Troop 62 Committee Chairman, B.S.A. at the church.
He retired from Raytheon in 1988, and enjoyed many Elderhostel trips in the US and Europe.
He is survived by Joan, his wife of 64 years; three children, Daniel III of Waltham; James of Southington, CT; and Joan (Gigi) of Somerville; four granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, on Friday, April 11, at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 160 Concord Rd. Sudbury. Interment will follow in New North Cemetery, Sudbury. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Duckett – J.S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Rd. (Rt. 20) SUDBURY.
