Jacob Marshall Smith

Jacob Marshall Smith, 30, of Crimora passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. Born February 11, 1992 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Steven Mark and Shelby Jean Layman-Smith. Jake was a 2009 graduate of Riverheads High School and a 2011 graduate of the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, AZ. As a mechanic, Jake had a love for working on cars and motorcycles. He greatly enjoyed listening to music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, George R. Layman; and paternal grandparents, Marshall and Margaret Anne Smith. Survivors include his sisters, Alesha Layman and significant other, Daniel and Natasha Smith; brother, Bryon Smith; maternal grandmother, Viola Layman-Varner and husband, Charles “Buddy” Varner; uncles, Dewey Layman and Jeff Layman; aunt, Patty Brown and husband, Bill; nephew, Mason Dull; cousins, Brandon Layman, Derek Layman, Savana Layman, Meghan Ellis, and Carter Brown; and his k-9 companions, Ranger and Cletus. Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft.
