Dale Jackson Sprouse

Dale Jackson Sprouse, 67, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2011, at his residence.

He was born on January 19, 1944, in Waynesboro, the son of the late Wilmer F. and Halcie (Bailey) Sprouse.

Mr. Sprouse was employed by E.I. DuPont and after 27 years of service he retired. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with family, playing the guitar, collecting knives and wood working.

Survivors inc lude his wife, Ruby B. Sprouse; children, Dale R. Sprouse of Stuarts Draft, Tony S. Sprouse and his wife, Sharon, of Dooms, Cassandra S. Shifflett and her fiance, Corey F. Vaughn, of Staunton, Jennifer D. Sprouse of Waynesboro, and Amanda G. Sprouse of Staunton; grandchildren, Brittani A. Sprouse, Anthony S. Sprouse, Tanner J. Sprouse, Jessica B. Shifflett, Bradley K. Shifflett, Kiara A. Brooks, Taylor N. Shifflett, Trevian S. Brooks and Heather Jones; great-grandchildren, Courtney D. Smith, Breya Smith and Kalik Smith; and special friends, W.T. and Jeanette Rickman.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway, with Pastor Earl Monroe officiating.

Burial will follow at Rankin Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Bill Sipe, Lynnwood Burnett, Ron Davis, Corey Vaughn, Brian Shifflett, Jim McCrea, Steve Balser and Tommy Fortune.

Honorary pallbearers will be W.T. Rickman, B.J. Sipe, Mike Benavitch and friends and coworkers of E.I. DuPont.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at the funeral home.
