William Boyd Simpson (Bill) ascended to heaven in the early morning of Saturday, September 17, 2022. He was born June 6, 1947 in Ashland, Ohio to George Albert Simpson and Mary Lucille Simpson (nee McInerney). He graduated from Ashland High School. In 1967 he was drafted to Vietnam. He was honorably discharged and received a bronze medal of valor for saving two comrades from a tank before it exploded over a land mine. After arriving home to Ohio, he attended Ohio Diesel Technical College in Cleveland, where he graduated with a two year degree in automotive repair. He was a gifted mechanic who loved his work and loved sharing his talents and expertise with others. His recreational interests included NASCAR and fishing. He also had a passion for ballroom dancing, whereby he met his wife, Tara (Killen) in 2005. Their son Charles (Charlie) was born in 2006. William was a devoted husband and father who loved his family, his home and his work. He is predeceased by his parents, as well as his brothers Gerald and James Simpson. Besides his immediate family, he is survived by his brothers Steve (Felicity), and Chester (Maria) and his sisters Charlene Gale, Jeannie Meyer, Annie Kline (Sam), Aprilla Hankins (Tom), and Mayrea Reusser (Tom). He will also be sorely missed by his sister-in-law Arlene, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, work associates and ballroom dancing friends. Rest in peace sweet William.

Viewing on Friday, Sept. 23rd, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Funeral on Saturday, Sept. 24th, 2:00 p.m., followed by burial at Fernhill Memorial Gardens, Kanner Hwy, Stuart, and then back to Aycock for a celebration of life with refreshments and a buffet meal.
