She was born in Aurora, Illinois, and had been a resident of Stuart since 1996, moving from Miami.
Ruth was a devoted wife and mother. While raising her three children in Western Springs, Illinois, she was active in her church, Girl Scouts, and community organizations. After moving to Miami, she was extensively involved in civic and social organizations holding executive board positions. She started a second career and was Director of Volunteer Services at South Miami Hospital for 14 years before retiring and moving to Stuart.
She had a very strong faith and was always active as a Sunday School teacher, Bible study leader, women’s groups member and volunteered with several service opportunities.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Penn and husband Frank of Durham, North Carolina, Sharon Robson and husband Jack of North Palm Beach, and one son, Scott Mandelbaum of Ormond Beach. Grandchildren include Alex Penn and wife Kristi, Jeff Penn and wife Courtney, Hannah, Tyler and Marlee Robson, Mayane Mandelbaum, and Naomi Sullivan and husband Matthew. Great grandchildren include Natalie and Norah Sullivan, and Lauren and Luke Penn.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 13th, 2023 from 1PM to 2PM at First United Methodist Church located at 1500 South Kanner Highway, Stuart, FL 34994. Those who wish may make contributions to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, Florida, 34997.
