Paula Carole Tully

Paula Carole Tully, age 76, of Stuart, Florida passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023. She was born on June 26th, 1946 in Irvington, New Jersey, the daughter of Benjamin and Bertha (Bistrick) Umscheis. She graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark, New Jersey. As a teenager, she loved music, dancing and the telephone. She spent much of her summers first attending and later working at the Girl Scouts Camp in Blairstown, New Jersey. She attended Monmouth College and The University of Oklahoma, where she earned her degree in Education.

She spent her career teaching first grade primarily at West End School in North Plainfield, New Jersey, where she was loved and adored by her students, sometimes leading to a lifelong relationship. She is the mother of Wyndi Lyn (Goldberg) Nissinoff, who followed her footsteps into the education field, and is currently teaching at Palm City Elementary School, and beloved Bubbie to Wyndi’s son Ben, an aspiring attorney who currently attends Florida State University. She is also stepmom to Jean Tully and her husband Chris Mooney of Vero Beach, Florida and Brian Tully and his wife Nicole Serra Tully of Hoboken, New Jersey. She is also the grandmother to Sophia and Alex Tully, children of Brian and Nicole. She was predeceased by her brother Fred Umschweis.

Paula is the beloved wife of Tom Tully and together they were preparing to celebrate their 39th anniversary. They were forever partners who loved life in general and especially traveling, entertaining friends and sharing family and sporting activities. Paula loved animals and proudly raised four long-haired Persian and Himalayan cats, as well as two terribly spoiled Yorkshire Terriers.

A memorial service will be held at Aycock Funeral Home, 6801 SE Federal Highway, Stuart, FL 34997 on Wednesday, March 15th at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paula’s name to Treasure Coast Hospice, who provided such loving care in her final days.
