Paul was born April 7, 1944 in Homestead, PA to Irma and Carl Magnuson. He grew up in Munhall, PA and was a 1966 graduate of Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon University) earning a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation, he moved to the New York City area to begin a lifelong career in the computer industry. Through the years, he worked for several companies finishing with his longest tenure of over 20 years as a Vice President at Pinkerton Computer Consultants.
He and Doris (nee Dagen) were married on June 29, 1968 at Grace Lutheran Church in Rochester, PA and had over 51 years of love and adventure together. Paul loved fine dining and fine wine, traveled to more than 100 countries, and fully embraced the cruising experience after retirement.
He was generous with his time and always willing to serve. This included working with the Middletown NJ Jaycees, serving one term as president and he especially enjoyed becoming Santa Claus for their holiday project. The neighborhood children also looked forward to visits from Old St. Nick each year. He served as a lay lector at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Middletown.
In 2003, the couple moved to Florida and built a home and life in the Summerfield community of Stuart. He volunteered for the Martin County Library System, United Way of Martin County and Habitat for Humanity where he served as both an Advisory Board Member and Board President. He has been a member of the Summerfield Homeowners’ Association Board pf Directors for over ten years.
Paul is survived by his wife, Doris, sister, Beverly Kelly, brothers-in-law Robert and William Dagen, special nephews Mark and John Evans and nieces, Tara Kakiou and Peggy Keaton and their spouses and children. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Shirley.
Because of the current Coronavirus restrictions, there will be no services at this time. A celebration of Paul’s life will be held when we can get together, raid his wine cellar and raise a toast to the man we knew and loved.
If you wish to do so, donations in Paul’s memory may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Martin County, Inc., 2090 NW Federal Highway, Stuart, FL 34994
