Born in Rushville, Indiana, Larry moved to Stuart in 2011.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and loved his country. Larry was a family service counselor in the funeral business for many years, and most recently worked for Aycock Funeral Home as a dispatch manager.
Larry loved to help people and volunteered for many organizations including the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, as well as Hospice where Larry, along with Cookie, his wife, would bring smiles to their patients as the chicken duo “Hen and Peck”. Making people laugh was something that Larry was so good at and he loved to pull little pranks on his family and friends. Recently, Larry, along with Cookie pulled the Aycock Funeral Home float proudly during the Hobe Sound Christmas Parade-His laugh brought so much joy to an awesome event.
Larry loved a laughing conversation and was steadfast in his faith in the Lord. He loved bringing smiles and joy to those he touched, and his beautiful smile will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cookie Gilbert of Florida; his daughter, Ashley Kistler of Indiana; brothers, Johnny and Vernon and sister, Janice, along with many loving grandchildren. His Aycock Funeral Home family will definitely miss his quirkiness, that quick “Larry” smile that would light up the room and his dedication to what we all value as funeral professionals.
Larry was predeceased by his daughter, Shannon.
A Celebration of Larry’s Life will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 4PM-6PM at Aycock, Young and Prill Chapel in South Stuart.
