Julie Elizabeth (Moriarty) Khoury, 69, of Hobe Sound, FL, formerly of Cranston, RI passed away Saturday morning, October 30, 2021. Until her death, she resided at her Jupiter Island home cared for by her loving husband of 29 years, Amin J Khoury. Born in Providence, October 9, 1952, she was the daughter of David and Eugenia (McCarthy) Moriarty formerly of Cumberland, RI and W. Palm Beach, FL. She and Amin were married April 24, 1992, in St. John, US Virgin Islands. Initially, they lived in Wellesley, MA then for more than 25 years divided their time between Cape Cod, most recently Osterville, Ma., and their Jupiter Island, FL home.
Julie was born in Providence and grew up in Cranston and Cumberland, RI. She attended and graduated from Cumberland High School, Capital University (accounting) in Columbus, Ohio, and Northeastern University (M. B. A.), Boston, MA. At Northeastern she met her husband, Amin Khoury. She loved her time at school and developed an enduring appreciation for the unique educational opportunities that Northeastern had to offer. In 2010 Julie and Amin endowed “The Amin J. and Julie E. Khoury Endowed Scholarship Fund” at Northeastern University. The Khoury Scholars regularly write to the family regarding their experiences, innovations, and career successes. Julie, someone with exceptional compassion and kindness, loved reading their letters and felt a deep sense of satisfaction with the critical role she played in the students’ significant development and success. She leaves a legacy of lives that are better because of her commitment to helping others.
Julie was the epitome of a kind, happy, and loving soul. She lit up every room with her smile, elegance, and unbridled optimism. Her enduring and loving marriage to Amin served as beautiful example for all who knew them. Julie loved to travel, play golf, and focus on their philanthropic endeavors with the Kravis Center, Jupiter Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Cape Cod Healthcare, and her alma mater, Northeastern University. In 2019 Julie and Amin endowed the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends whom she truly loved. She is survived by her husband Amin J. Khoury, his three children Kim, Amin, and David Khoury, beloved grandchildren Katherine and Alexandra Khoury; her siblings David Moriarty of W. Palm Beach, FL, devoted sister Denise (Bruce) Thayer of Hobe Sound, FL; and her 2 adored nephews Rafe Thayer and David (Kaycee) Thayer; and especially her favorite grand niece and nephew, Riley and Kai Thayer.
A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated on Friday, November 19, 2021, at 2:00 pm in St Christopher Catholic Church, 12001 SE Federal Highway, Hobe Sound, FL, 33455. A celebration of Julie’s life will follow at the Jupiter Hills Club, 11,800 SE Hill Club Terrace, Tequesta, FL 33469, at 3:30 pm.
