Joycelyn Pauline Williamson-Parillon was born the 2nd oldest of 13 brothers and sisters to Berkley and Eileen Gilbert on July 23rd, 1944 in Trinidad West Indies. In her early years she attended St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic school. Being the oldest girl, Joycelyn was instrumental in assisting in the care of her siblings. She later relocated to Port of Spain, Trinidad, where she met and wedded the late Russell Patrick Williamson and maintained a very successful business. In 1970 they relocated to The United States (Corona, Queens), where she raised five children.
The opportunities of education immediately became evident to Joycelyn and she decided to further her education at the Manpower School in New York and became an Administrative Assistant. She then was hired at Bulova Watch Company in Astoria Queens and her children always knew in advance their Christmas and Birthday gifts would be a Watch.
Joycelyn, along with her then, husband saw an opportunity to start another business, by orchestrating a productive business plan. She became a Pest Control Technician and Corona Pest Control Company was birthed. Due to the success of the business, she was awarded a contract to implement a Pest Control department at the infamous Riker’s Island Correctional Facility. There she trained inmates to become Certified Pest Control Technicians in the Prison system to be more productive citizens upon their release. She retired early, due to an injury on the job. Joycelyn was known for her signature Roti Recipe, making her the best and fastest Roti maker amongst family and friends.
Upon the passing of her late husband, Joycelyn remarried, Alfred Parillon, whom she loved with all her heart. In 2006, Joycelyn and Alfred relocated to Port. St Lucie Florida to enjoy the Florida Sun and the home she built 12 years prior for retirement. After becoming ill in 2012, Joycelyn and Alfred relocated to McDonough GA where she spent her last days with her husband. On the Glorious morning of June 28, 2014, God saw fit to call his precious daughter home with Him.
Joycelyn was a true humanitarian, helping as many people as she was able. She loved her family and worked diligently to have them join her in the United States.
She was an inspiration to everyone who had the opportunity to know her. She would love to say “God bless you and make sure you pray”. She helped many people to achieve their dreams and was deemed the Matriarch of her family. She had an overwhelmingly exuberant joyful spirit that filled the room.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister, cousin, aunt and friend. Joycelyn was a woman of class; gracefulness and we will keep her in our hearts forever. She loved God with all her might and now she is with Him in Heaven.
Joycelyn was preceded in death by her late husband, Russell Williamson, parents, Eileen and Berkley Gilbert, her brothers, Vernon, Peter and sisters, Veronica, Catherine, Patricia, Daphne and Inez.
She is survived by her husband, John Alfred Parillon, who loved her dearly, son, Joseph Williamson, of Boston, Massachusetts, Cresentia Chris” Scott (Arnold “AC”) of Atlanta, Georgia, Natasha Williamson-Stevenson (George “Tim”), of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Quentin Gilbert (Nephew) of New York. Step-children, Libert Williamson, Irwing Williamson, Bernadette (Connie), Hesline, Donald, Parkinson, is survived by siblings, Elizabeth (Betty) Gilbert Taitt (Dennis) of Florida, Sally George (Mikey), New York, Editha Abraham (Augustine), Trinidad and Carl Humphrey, (brother-in-law), Lloyd Gilbert , Trinidad, Emmanuel Gilbert (Louisa), Trinidad, Winston Gilbert (Esther), Trinidad, Charles Gilbert (Eaugenia,), Trinidad. Brothers-in-law Emmanuel Parillon (Millie), Henry Parillon and sister-in law, Gweneth Parillon, all of Dominica.
Joycelyn leaves behind, her grandchildren, she adored, Chelley Ann, Samantha (Eddrick), Dominique, Na’im, Asia, Andrew, Russella, Shanita, Janelle, Lacarra (Rose), Jonathan, Libert Jr. and Nicole. Great grand, Elijah, Elynn, Ethan, Emery, Lynell, Nathan, Zion Beaubrun, her God-sons, David Herbert, Albert Jr. Blackman and a host of Nieces, Nephews, friends and Cousins she cherished.
