Born in Parkersburg, WV, son of Earl D. and Beulah A. (Curfman) Wright. Darrell moved to the Salerno area in 1980 and was affectionately known as the “Salerno Cowboy”.
He had worked for Penne Metal in West Virginia for 27 years and was also a carpenter. Darrell loved to take his family camping, and also loved to fish. He was a member of the VFW Post 10132, Loyal Order of Moose and loved to volunteer at the Stuart Air Show every year.
Darrell proudly served our county during the Korean War and was a veteran of The United States Navy.
He attended Tropical Farms Baptist Church in Stuart, FL.
Darrell was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather; he is loved and will be truly missed.
He is survived by his son, William Earl (Teresa) of Stuart; daughter, Sandra Jean Wallace of Stuart; son, Darrell Wayne (Janice) of Stuart; grandchildren, Vanessa (David), Joshua, Brittney, Samantha, Jennie (Jimmy) and Jessica (Carlos); 14 great grandchildren; sister, Delores Tracewell, of Cheshire, Ohio, and daughter in law, Diane of Gallipolis, Ohio.
Darrell was predeceased by two sons, an infant son and Donald Eugene, great grandchildren, Paisley and CJ, and his siblings, Virgil, Charles, Eugene, Earl Jr, Olis, Wanda, Dale, Anna May, Helen, Billy and Elmer. A graveside service with military honors will be held in July at Fernhill Memorial Gardens in Stuart, FL.
