Arthur “Art” S. Thompson, Jr., 85, of Hobe Sound, FL passed away Monday, May 25, 2015 at Jupiter Medical Center. He was born April 19, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Hobe Sound, FL in May 2003, coming from Franklin Lakes, NJ. He retired as Vice President of Sales for Fieldcrest Mills of New York. Art was a Presbyterian, a member of Hobe Sound Community Presbyterian Church, and a former member of Presbyterian Church at Franklin Lakes. He was a member of Indian Trail Club in Franklin Lakes, NJ and Eaglewood Home Owners Association, Hobe Sound, FL and the Colgate University Alumni Association (Class of 1952). Art was also named to the Nutley (NJ) HS Athletic Hall of Fame for Basketball and Baseball. He was predeceased in 2010 by his wife of 58 years Carol Joan Thompson (Etling). Survivors include children, Scott Thompson (Daryl) of Wellington, FL; Mark Thompson of Brewster, NY; Curt Thompson (Heather) of Seattle, WA; Heidi Nosich (Jim) of Coral Gables; brother, Robert Charles Thompson of West Palm Beach; sister, Audrey Marie Rielle of Tequesta, FL and eight grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Art’s memory to The Hobe Sound Community Presbyterian Church. Memorial Services will be June 20 at 11:00 am at Hobe Sound Community Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will be at Presbyterian Church at Franklin Lakes, NJ.
