William (Bill) Fountain, 76, of Tomkins Cove, NY (previously a decades-long resident of Piermont, NY) passed away on November 13, 2022. Born in 1945 to the late Hope Thoon in Manhattan, Bill spent much of his childhood there before moving to Fort Lee, NJ.
Bill belonged to the New Jersey Building Laborers Union, Laborers' International Union of North America, retiring in December 2007. Athletic in his younger years, he remained always an avid sports fan, especially of the New York Yankees, Giants, and Rangers. Bill was also an animal lover and cared for many cats over his lifetime. He was a tenderhearted, sensitive man who will be greatly missed by his loved ones, for whom he cared deeply.
He is survived by his former partner, Ann Perez; their daughter, Jasmine Kwityn, and her husband, Ed; his sister, Renie Pickman-Thoon, her husband, Michael, and their children, Brennan and Julianna; his brother, Thomas Thoon, his wife, Tian, and their son, Tino; and loving friends and family in North Jersey and all across the country.
Family and friends are invited Tuesday, November 22, 2022, 3-7 p.m., with 6 p.m. prayer service, at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., 73 N Liberty Dr, Stony Point, New York 10980.
In lieu of flowers, please keep good memories of Bill in your heart, and buy a lottery ticket or put in a trifecta: he'd want you to win and if nothing else enjoy watching the race. If you are inclined, make a donation in his honor to a cat-focused animal rescue of your choice.
