Katherine Rose Schneider

1939 - 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Katherine (Kaye) Rose Schneider on January 26, 2022 at the age of 82 years. Kaye will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years Lawrence, her son Brad (Pam) and her grandson Colton as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Kaye was predeceased by her parents Carl and Johanna Nagel, brothers Carl and Brian and sisters Eleanor (Louis) and Irene (Bill). Kaye is survived by her brothers Doug (Helene) and Del (Jo) and her sisters Delores (Jack) and Darlene (Vern).

Kaye was born in Moose Jaw and was raised on the family farm before moving to Saskatoon to start her career as a nurse. Kaye married Lawrence in December of 1962 and they began their lives together in Saskatoon. In 1968 the adventure continued as they embraced the bold move of relocating to Peace River, Alberta to start their own KFC franchise. The early years had Kaye splitting her time between working at the hospital in Peace River and serving guests at KFC. The adventure continued as they moved to Hinton in 1971, then Edson in 1972 to open additional KFC restaurants.

Over the years, as the business grew and free time became more prevalent, Kaye pursued her many talents. Kaye spent much of her time playing and teaching piano. She also loved to spend her time gardening, baking and honing her skills on the many arts and crafts that she loved. She always said that there weren’t enough hours in the day.

Retirement brought one more move, a relocation to Stony Plain in 1997 allowing her to be closer to family. Over the years, Kaye was blessed to have the opportunity to spend time traveling in the motorhome, spend winters down south and visit many wonderful locations around the globe. Despite all the travel, she always maintained that there was no place like home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kaye’s memory to a charity of your choice.
