It is with broken hearts we have to say goodbye to the most wonderful husband and father, David V Power at the age of 55.
David will be forever loved and so missed by Dana (McCarthy) his best friend and wife of 25 years, and his two sons whom he loved so much and was so proud of Zachary (Brittany) & Jacob. He loved nothing more than to watch all their accomplishments over the years and know that he was their main influence in life. Zachary has his dad’s his sense of humour and the ability to fix anything and everything. He has followed in David’s footsteps, becoming a Journeyman Mechanic (Heavy Duty). Jacob is an Avid Lacrosse player and David took so much pride in watching him fulfill his dreams and most recently he was able to travel to North Carolina to watch him play at the NCAA level.
David loved the outdoors, camping, hunting, quadding and anything that involved friends and fun but most of all fishing. Over the last 2 years he made sure to take advantage of every opportunity to go fishing even when times he didn’t have the strength. With his perseverance and his fishing buddies (you know who you are) he never missed a good day on the water or on the ice to try to catch “the Big one.”
David also loved his job, he went to work every day with a smile on his face even during his most difficult days. He worked for the last 15 years for Sysco Edmonton, most recently as Fleet & Facility Manager. He took great pride in his work and his last day at Sysco was certainly one of his hardest days.
Then there was music….If you knew David you knew singing and whistling was a big part of who he was. He was often referred to as the “Singing Mechanic” and known for blurting out lyrics that related to any conversation you were having. If he was awake he was singing and Jacob so much like his dad will continue to carry on his love of singing and everything music.
David is now Reunited with his parents Lawrence and Theresa, his brother Larry, and his father-in-law Ray.
Also loved by his sisters Yvonne (Billy), Anne (Peter), Rose (Cyril), Brother Greg, Mother in Law Eunice, Brother-in-law Dean (Chantal) sister-in-law Michelle, many nieces & nephews and extended family.
Truly missed by too many friends and coworkers to mention (from NL to ON to AB) and of course his Buddies….. Mason and Mack will be forever waiting for his footsteps at the door.
Until we meet again my love,
“The sun comes up and seasons change, through it all love remains…”
At David’s request Cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation at Parkland funeral Home Stony Plain Tuesday June 13 from 2-6pm
