The only son of George and Alma Hendrickson, Dave grew up on the family farm in Armena, Alberta, with his sister Grace. The farm was a place he loved.
He married the love of his life, Sharon McNichol on October 7th, 1967, the start of 55 years of endless love and learning from one another. Together, through hard work and dedication to the Lord, and each other, they created a life of lasting influence on family, friends and the community.
Beloved father to Fay Hendrickson (Harpal Minhas), Joy (Greg) Fast and Glen Hendrickson (Jacquie Victoor), grandfather to Josh (Emilee) Jentink, Kaitie Jentink (Andrew Hoffman), Isaac Fast, Elliot Fast, and Emmett Fast and great grandfather to Gunner Jentink, Dave shared his love with his family in practical ways and was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren.
Dave trained as a heavy duty mechanic. He worked as a service manager at several GM dealerships. At 43 Dave fulfilled a lifetime dream of owning his own business when he and Sharon became Tim Horton’s franchisees. They worked hard and successfully ran their business for 34 years. A venture that ended with dreams of more travel on the horizon.
He travelled the world, going on many adventures with Sharon, sharing his love of travel also with the rest of the family from early camping adventures to a love of cruising. Dave and Sharon returned from their last cruise, a trip to Mexico over his birthday, less than a week before his passing.
Alongside travel his passions included hunting, fishing, golfing, tinkering with vehicles and miscellaneous machines, mowing the lawn golf-course style, fixing things, cheering his grandchildren on in their endeavours in sports and music, and playing games with family and friends. A lifetime Oilers fan, Dave rarely missed a game.
Family and faith meant everything to Dave. He was a quiet man who spoke more with his actions than words. He lived his faith daily. His trust in God was solid. As a member of the hospitality committee, he welcomed people in to his home church of Stony Plain Alliance with a big smile.
Dave leaves a legacy to be proud of and will be missed beyond words. He was deeply loved and will always be in our hearts. His influence will continue to lead us.
A Service will be held in honor of Dave on Saturday, February 18, 2023 - 2 PM at the Stony Plain Alliance Church, 2 Keystone Drive, Stony Plain, Alberta T7Z 0J5
