I may have shared it before.. I was having a difficult day. 
Clayton said to  me,"Don't let them rent space in your head."
These words continue to resound for me.

Good Day, as best as it can be in your sadness. I did not know of Clayton's passing. I've been out of contact for nearly 11 years.
One memory I have of Clayton is words of wisdom from him;"Don't let them rent space in your head," is what he said as I was going through a bit of stress at work. Wise words indeed.
May you have comfort in the days and years ahead. We grieve with those who grieve, but have hope in future times, not being preachy, but  hope in being united in life with those who are asleep now.

My deepest condolences to you Doris and family. First met Con and Doris many years ago, when Clement and I moved to Spruce Grove. We shared a duplex and there got to meet the children 
Clayton was not very old at the time, but he will truly be remembered as being kind, polite a very quiet and shy young man.

I first met Clayton in 2014 after arriving in Canada as a new immigrant. My fondest memories of Clayton were during the Schamehorn family Christmas during my first year in Canada. Clayton was an incredibly warm and welcoming person. That Christmas, despite being so far from home, Clayton treated me like a member of the family and he was too much of a gentleman to give anything but praise when I served him an ‘overcooked’ (read: burnt) Irish breakfast.

I’ve attached a picture of when my parents visited Canada in 2016 and Clayton fired up his beloved barbecue. He always made sure everyone was having a good time and was the kind of guy who’d give you the shirt off his back. Thank you, Clayton, for being a wonderful human being and for raising two of my favourite people in the entire world. 


John and I send our deepest condolences to you; Val, Dalton and Alia in the passing of Clayton.  I remember his gentleness, his kind smile and how much he loved you all.  Our love and prayers go out to you as you move through this life without the husband and dad you loved, and still love so much.

I first worked with Clayton in 1996 when I was an electrical apprentice at the powerhouse. Clayton could make even the dirtiest jobs fun and over the next 20 years he was always one of my favourite people to work with. 

He was a highly principled, generous person who loved to cook for his coworkers and made the BEST coffee with his reconditioned coffee percolator.  He will be greatly missed.

We are heartbroken for for you. Clayton was such a great guy and will be missed by many. We hope that you find some comfort in the beautiful memories you hold.  Although we cannot be at the memorial in person, know that we will be with you  in our thoughts and prayers.

I worked closely with Clayton for several years at Suncor in Fort McMurray.  He was well known throughout the plant site as a man of integrity, thoughtfulness, kindness & a man with strong Union values, which he explained to me, he learned while working in Australia.  He was an excellent journeyman to the many apprentices that were assigned to him throughout the years,  genuinely trying to ensure they completed their tasks safely, timely & professionally.   Clayton was always willing to drop whatever he was doing in order to assist someone else who needed a helping hand.  He was a good man and will be missed.

To Val, Alia, Dalton, Finley and Families, we would like to send our sincere condolences to you all.  Clayton was a sweet kind friend and neighbour, he will be missed very much up here on Fitzsimmons Ave.   We  have very fun and fond memories of our spontaneous visits throughout almost 20 years of being neighbours.   Randy always looked to see if Clayton  was up for being bugged/tormented about anything from work, hunting or Val! (ha,ha)    Clayton's smile and gentle heart will be remembered always., RIP Clayton.   Hugs and Love to you all.

My deepest condolences to Valerie, Alia, Dalton, and all of Clayton's family, friends, neighbours, and coworkers. I first met Clayton through my brother-in-law, Dave Tucker, at a Tim Hortons in Fort McMurray around 2005 and I have had the pleasure to run into him from time to time at Suncor. Also, there was the time Clayton and Valerie attended Jeanna's wedding in Halifax. God bless you all.

After Dalton and I had received our firearm licenses and passed our hunting safety courses, Clayton was kind enough to introduce to the world of hunting. I will always remember the day, Dalton and I got our first deer at the same time and the story Dalton had of how his dad, Clayton, helped wrangle down Dalton’s deer. Clayton taught me many hunting and firearm safety lessons I won’t forget. 

We looked forward every fall to catching up with Clayton at Pa’s. Such a gentle and caring man. We had a great visit washing dishes this past thanksgiving. Deepest sympathies to Val and family 

Growing up in Manning, I didn't get to see too much of Clayton and my other cousins due to the distance between us. It wasn't until we all grew up and he started visiting his farm up in Hawk Hills that we would get to see each other on a semi-regular basis. We'd usually get to see each other at Pa's farm during the annual thrashing day over the Thanksgiving weekend. Here's a great picture of Clayton, JR, Dalton and Val from Thanksgiving 2020. Great times, fond memories, you will be deeply missed by all.

Being a close friend of Val’s (well kind of, sort of cousins, but not really;) growing up, I was thrilled for her when she started dating Clayton and realized he was the love of her life.  I was honoured to be their Maid of Honour at their wedding and Clayton will always hold a special spot in my heart.   Being young and single, he never thought twice about, being an electrician, working on his days off wiring my garage for me in my first house.  I’m not sure if the deal was for me to pay him or not, but I’m pretty sure no money ever exchanged hands, because he was just that kind of guy.  Years later I’m not sure if they ever knew how touched I was when he and Val took time off work and  flew in for Ken and my wedding.  

Clayton, you may be gone my friend, but will never be forgotten 💗
