Merle D Marquez born October 14 1926 in Spokane Washington to Everet and Laura Larson. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Orville and husband Raymond. Merle married the love of life of 63 years Raymond F. (Rocky) Marquez on Valentine’s Day 1947 and lived in Portland, Oregon before moving to Stockton, California. She is survived by her children Ronald (Jackie) of Corvalis, MT. Tom (Celeste) of Stockton, CA. Sandra Madewell of Stockton, CA. Mary Zuffo (Mark) of San Francisco, CA. Merle also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Angela Christine, Phillip, Jennifer, Rachel, Anthony and 4 great grandchildren Jacob, Justin, Reagen and Wyatt. She passed on to the Lord February 28 surrounded by family. Merle’s passions in life were reading, gardening and her pet cats. Merle’s love of literature led to long career in the Library field, she established the first library at St. Luke’s School of Stockton, CA. Merle served faithfully at St Mary’s High School of Stockton, CA. where she was employed as a librarian for 41 years and was inducted into the St Mary's Hall of Fame. Merle was a member of St Luke’s Parish since coming to Stockton in 1953 and served as a volunteer in the Stockton Police Youth Activities Drum and Bulge and Drill team organization. She enjoyed her gardening planting her favorite geraniums and roses for many years. Her home was always occupied by a loving Kitty Kat or two.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 1pm, DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N California St., Stockton, CA 95202. Committal will be private.
