Hilario "Larry" Silva

Hilario (Larry) Silva passed away peacefully Dec. 25, 2018 surrounded by his family at the age of 79 in Stockton, CA. Larry was born in Delano, CA on July 26, 1939. He is preceded in death by his parents Hilario and Emperatriz Silva of Delano, CA.

He worked for the Stockton Unified School District for over 30 years as a counselor, mentor and friend to many students at Fremont Jr. High, Stagg High School and Stockton Adult School before retiring. He was also a musician and joined his first band at the age of 13. He played in various bands throughout his life, most notably the Rhythm Kings. He was a founding member of the "original" local Latin band

Los Elegantes, which was formed in 1962, a year after he moved to Stockton. They went on to become a local favorite for many, many years. In addition to his love for music, he also enjoyed spending time camping, golfing, fishing, and sharing quality time with family and friends. He was an avid traveler and loved taking cruises with his wife. He left a huge impact on every life that he touched and was loved by so many people. We will always be thankful for the time that we shared with him.

He is survived by his wife May, his brothers, Ray (Carol), Raul, Carlos (Esther), his children, Chris (Irene), Lisa (Anthony), Steve (Jennifer), Stephanie, Suzanne, Robyn (Elysia), Jackie (Jeff), 13 grandchildren, 7

great-grandchildren, many family and life-long friends.

A Rosary will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 6:30 PM and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11 AM at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N California, Stockton 95202.
