Alice Matthews met Sgt. Charles Davis in 1945 at Morningside Baptist Church, Savannah, Georgia, where he was preaching while stationed at Hunter Air Force Base. She was attending Armstrong Junior College where she received an Associate in Arts Degree. She later attended GSCU in Milledgeville, Georgia.
They were married on January 9, 1946 until his death on August 1, 2013 They moved to Ft. Worth, Texas where she received a BS in Psychology at TCU.
As a small child, Alice tap danced on a radio show. She was the Captain of her high school and college basketball teams. Alice taught English in Kentucky and Georgia. She loved to sing. She was funny, always happy and loved everyone.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles L. Davis, their son, Stephen Charles 'Steve' Davis, and her sister, Vara Matthews Corley.
She is survived by Daughter & son in law, Jan Davis Freeman (Ron Freeman), Granddaughters Joy M. Everett (Steve Everett) and Brock Taylor-Furman (Wes Holt), many nieces and nephews.
Alice loved Jesus. She spent her life sharing the gospel with the many people who attended the churches her husband pastored. From Georgia to Texas, Oklahoma, Louisville, Kentucky, College Park, Georgia, Homestead, Florida and North Miami Beach, Florida.
In her many stays in the hospital, she always asked her doctors and nurses, "Do you know my Jesus?" Her smile showed that she just wanted to share her love of Jesus. Many were in need to share that love with her and to gain help and hope for their current problems or sadness.
Alice's family appreciates your prayers and will be honoring her at a family graveside celebration of her life.
