Anthony James Stevens (Shevchuk) (77), originally of Cicero, Illinois, went home to be with the Lord on September 4, 2020, after a long battle with Parkinsons. Tony was a devoted father, grandfather, and brother who spent his final days surrounded by his loving family and friends. Tony loved the art of conversation and made friends everywhere he went. He enjoyed traveling, especially road trips to South West Michigan. He loved to share stories from his careers as a fireman and building inspector for the Village of Oak Brook. There was nothing more important in his life than family.
Tony’s greatest joy was his two grandchildren, Jack and Natalie, who affectionately called him P-Tonz. He is survived by his son Joe (Nicole) and his daughter Sara. He was the oldest of five siblings Margie Walsh (Clarence), Rita Brinker (Al), Michael Shevchuk (Maureen), and Phil Shevchuk (Jane). He had many nieces and nephews that he adored.
He is preceded in death by his father Anthony Sr, mother Margaret, and brother Phil.
Out of concern for all those who loved Tony, visitation will be private. In lieu of an in-person visitation, memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MountAuburnFuneralHome.com for the Stevens family. Mass information to follow. The family will have a celebration of Tony’s life in June of 2021.
