Royce Lee Lazenby

Mr. Royce Lee Lazenby, 80, of 183 Third Creek Road, Statesville, and formerly of Gastonia and Clover, SC, went to be with Jesus on Friday, December 31, 2010, at Forsyth Regeional Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

He was born December 16, 1930, in Shelby, NC, and was the son of the late Hubert Lee and Mary Dessie Joines Lazenby. Mr. Lazenby was retired from office equipment sales and served in the U.S. Army. He had a love for music and played several musical instruments and played in a country music band for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Glenda Faye Stamey Lazenby, whom he married on September 8, 1956; two daughters, Denise Outen of the home and Rhonda Painter and her husband, Tim, of Statesville; and four grandchildren, Kevin and Rachel Outen and Sara and Megan Painter.

Services celebrating Mr. Lazenby's life will be conducted at 12:30 P.M. Thursday, January 6, 2010, in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Southern officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow with a comittal service at 2:00 P.M. at the National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.
