Mr. Robert Eugene Padgett, 75, of 315 Lindsey Farm Rd., Stony Point, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 26, 2013 from the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Rowan County on April 29, 1938, he was a son of the late John Clayton Padgett and Sally Kyles Padgett. He was a retired truck driver and newspaper carrier and loved to read his Bible, enjoyed the outdoors, in particular fishing and hunting and loved his great grandbabies. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Chruch.
Survivors include a son, Robert Edward Padgett (Kelly) of Wilkesboro, a daughter, Teresa Benge of the home, a sister, Imogene Bristol of North Port, Fla. and a sister-in-law, Lucy Padgett. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Samantha Benge, Brandy Benge, Thomas and Jonathan Roy and two great grandchildren: Landon James Gambill and Jody Ryno Hill.
Services celebrating Robert's life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Holland officiating. He will lie in state at the church from 6:00 P.M. Tuesday evening until the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the Cleveland Town Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. Tuesday evening (this evening) at the church and at other times will be assembled at the residence.
