Rhonda Elaine Wooten Chadwell, 42, of 119 S. Gordon, Winston-Salem and formerly of Statesville, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem following acute myeloid leukemia of 8 months in duration.
Born November 7, 1968 in Iredell County, she was the only child of John Neal and Treva Morrow Wooten who both survive and are of Statesville. She graduated in 1987 from West Iredell High School, and continued her education at East Carolina University where she earned a Bachelor Of Science Degree, a Master Of Science Degree from U.N.C. Greensboro and a Master Of Arts Degree from U.N.C. Greensboro. Rhonda was employed by Wake Forest University Medical Center as a biochemist in cancer research. She enjoyed gardening, travel, the beach and cooking.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Dr. Brad Anthony Chadwell of the home.
Services celebrating Rhonda's life will be conducted at 11:00 Friday January 28, 2011 at New Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Mason and Dr. David Hughes officiating. She will lie in state at the church for thirty minutes prior to the servcie and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will assemble at the home of her parents at 190 Sharon School Rd. Statesville and will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. Thursday evening at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent on line to the family to www.bunchjohnsonfuneralhome.com.
