Gressie Lee Toliver, Jr., 80, of Statesville, North Carolina, passed away on November 11, 2024. A native of Longview, Texas, he was born to the late Gressie and Carrie Lee Toliver. He was a member of Caddo Mills Baptist Church in Caddo Mills, Texas and loved to fish. He also loved drag racing and was an avid pool player. He retired from Carris Reels in Statesville after 28 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Willie B. Toliver; by two sisters, Patty Ann Toliver and Verna Mea Huey.
Mr. Toliver is survived by his wife of 58 years, Winnie Mae Patterson Toliver; by his sons, Wesley Toliver of Dallas, Texas and Sammy Gressie Toliver of Statesville; by a daughter, Evonne Toliver of Mooresville, NC; by four brothers, Roger Toliver (Luther Mae) of Dekalb, Texas, Terry Toliver (Paula) of Greenville, Texas, Willie Toliver of Greenville, Texas, and Andrew Toliver of Greenville, Texas. Five sisters, Mable Benton (Jessie), Bobbie Toliver, Ora Lee Huey, Irene Stevens, and Wanda Toliver, all of Greenville, Texas, also survive him. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Brittany Toliver of Mooresville, Dallas Toliver (Rachael) of Mooresville, Dylan Toliver (Katherine) of Georgia Jasmine Toliver of Mooresville and Olivia Toliver of Statesville. A great-granddaughter, Mia Nicole Toliver of Georgia, also survives.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville with Pastor Hasani Lateef officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, prior to the service. Interment will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens in Statesville.
