Charles Wayne Holland, 76, passed away at his residence Saturday, March 3. He was born Oct. 17, 1941, in Iredell County, the son of the late James Boyd Holland and the late Artie Doris St. John Holland. He was a graduate of Scott High School and the North Carolina State Truck Driving School. He drove a tractor trailer for 43 years for Akers Motor Lines, Hielig Myers and Pratt Industries (Jet Corr) until his retirement. He took great pride in his driving record, and was known to be the one for the run that required the "special situation" delivery, whether it was backing into a tight area or the one that needed to be sure to be delivered on time. Our family will cherish the "C.W.isms," or as we often teased him, "The World According To C.W." He always had his own way of doing things - in living and in departing.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Joyce Lloyd Holland; sons, Lawton Dayle "L.D." Holland (Lynette) of Denver, N.C., and Miles Landon (Landy) Holland of Statesville; and daughter, Tracy H. Potts (Keith) of Troutman. He is survived by four grandchildren, Lloyd Potts (Mackenzie), Jared Potts, Chelsea Holland (Adrian), and Trenton Holland; and three great-grandchildren, Kimber, Alexandria and Maddox. He is also survived by his aunt, Virgie Redmon of Statesville; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins
Per his request, there will be no services, but the family will receive friends at the home of Keith and Tracy Potts, 350 Murdock Rd. in Troutman Monday, March 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Kidney Foundation, 933 Louise Ave., #101B, Charlotte, NC 28204; or Lake Norman Humane, P.O. Box 3957, Mooresville, NC 28117.
