STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Lifelong Staten Islander Stephen J. McCormack, 63, of Great Kills, a retired X-ray technologist, died yesterday at home following a two-year illness.
A lifelong Great Kills resident, he graduated from Monsignor Farrell High School in Oakwood and earned a radiologic technology degree from the former U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in Clifton in 1970.
A certified X-ray technologist, he worked for 27 years at the former Richmond Memorial Hospital in Prince’s Bay and stayed on when it became Staten Island University Hospital.
He was a parishioner of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Eltingville. An avid fan of classic rock music, he attended many concerts and owned many CDs.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, the former Barbara Chapman; a daughter, Kelly Vassallo, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday from the Casey-McCallum-Rice South Shore Funeral Home, Great Kills, with a service at 10:30 a.m. in St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. Arrangements include cremation.
