Stephanie Vandenburg,58, a lifelong resident of Staten Island, died on March 16th after battling a long illness. Born Stephanie Bossert in Stapleton, she was relocated to Great Kills as a child and remained a resident there until her passing.
A graduate of Moore Catholic HS and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School, Stephanie went on to work in downtown Manhattan. She also worked at Waldbaums Supermarket in Great Kills before retiring from work at the Top Tomato in Great Kills, where she worked for 15 years. While there Stephanie was a highly recognizable and popular employee, who enjoyed being part of the community environment.
Stephanie enjoyed cooking and watching her favorite teams the NY Mets, the NY Rangers, and the NY Jets, and she especially enjoyed spending time with family. Stephanie was known for her sweet smile and disposition. She was a loving mother, partner, sister and friend and she will be greatly missed.
Stephanie is predeceased by her husband, Monte Vandenburg and her parents, John and Dolores Bossert. She is survived by her son Monte, and her long term loving partner, Pasquale Rago. Stephanie is also survived by her siblings and in laws. Janet and Danny Mackey, Jeanine and Peter Yalango, Eileen and Mike Ayuso, Jo-Ellen Bossert, Jack and Kris Bossert, Michael and Gina Bossert, and Daniel and Susanne Bossert. She was also the proud aunt of numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Stephanie will be held Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10308, followed by a prayer service at 5:15 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Stephanie's memory may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
