Patricia Eileen (Tish) Esposito (nee Lee), 93, of Pleasant Plains passed away on Sunday January 2, 2002. Born in Morningside Heights, Manhattan to Patrick Lee and Elizabeth Lee (nee Brennan), she moved as an infant with her family to Grant City where she attended St. Margaret Mary’s Church and graduated from P. S. 41 and later New Dorp High School in 1947.
She started a career in Finance with House Hold Finance located in St. George and enjoyed dancing on the Midland Beach Promenade during it’s hay day with her beloved , John R. Esposito, also of Grant City, who preceded her in death in 2010. On November 25, 1950 the two were to be married, but their planned wedding day had to be postponed to the 26th due to Storm of the Century, at that time, also known as the “Appalachian Storm” that dumped record amounts of snow in parts of the Appalachian Mountains and devastated the East and South Shores of Staten Island with flooding.
The two newlyweds started their home in the Berry Homes and from there moved to New Dorp before settling in Great Kills in 1966 where she lived for fifty years before moving in with her son in 2016.
A skilled seamstress, she enjoyed making her own fashions for herself and family members. She was also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was also known for her Sunday family dinners.Mrs. Esposito was a parishioner of St. Clare’s R.C. Church, Great Kills.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie P. Esposito her son John L Esposito. and her sister Catherine (Todda) Shay and her grandchildren Michael Otranto, Kaitlyn Esposito and John P. Esposito.
A Memorial Gathering for Patricia will be held on Saturday January 15, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home located at 30 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY, 10308. A Funeral Mass will occur the same day at 1:00 PM at St. Clare Church, 110 Nelson Avenue, Staten Island, NY, 10308. Interment to be determined at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization Patricia supported for many years. https://www.stjude.org/.
