Mary Ellen McGrath

Mary Ellen McGrath, 73, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother passed away at home on September 20 surrounded by her family. Born May 4, 1947 to Arthur and Anne Driscoll, she grew up in New Brighton and attend St. Paul's and Curtis High School. She graduated from the New York Foundling Hospital as an Infant Care Technician. She worked at St. Vincent's Medical Center in the newborn nursery for over 30 years. She was married for 51 years to her loving husband, the late Bob (Bunty) McGrath who passed away in March. The devoted couple only were apart for six months. Together they settled in Westerleigh and raised their two children. After retiring she enjoyed spending time with her husband and family and friends on the beach at her home in LBI. Mary Ellen lived a full and wonderful life. She enjoyed the company of her loving sisters and brother in laws and many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity and love she so freely gave to others. She is survived by her late husband, Bob McGrath, her children Robert and Ann Marie DeFranco and son in law Ken, and her grandchildren Dan, Claire, and Christopher DeFranco.

Visitation Tuesday September 22 at the Harmon Funeral Home 571 Forest Avenue 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday September 23 Blessed Sacrament Church at 12 pm. Interment Moravian Cemetery
