Marie Jo-Ann Stiegler (nee Skow), a shining testament to unwavering love, exemplary service, and unmatched humor, passed away in Staten Island on December 13, 2024, at the age of 78, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Brooklyn on April 7, 1946, Marie's life journey was characterized by profound dedication to her family and community—a life well-lived and deeply treasured by those privileged to share it.
For 58 beautiful years, Marie was the cherished wife of Bill Stiegler. Their marriage was a partnership of love and steadfast support, a remarkable bond that shaped generations. She is survived by her loving husband, Bill, and their children, Christine Algozino (Matthew), Karen Melone (Donald), and Billy Stiegler (Marianne), her cherished grandchildren: Kayla and Brayden Stiegler, and Ella and Madelyn Melone, brother Richard Skow (Judy) nephew Richard Skow and nieces Lauren Santos, Kimberly DeSimone and Mallory Branning.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Wilner and Helen Skow, as well as her siblings Patricia Carchiolo (Jimmy), Peter, and Robert Skow.
Marie began on her professional life at Hartford Insurance Company before leaving her role to raise her children. As her children grew, she re-entered the work force, serving first as a home health aide, then a patient care assistant, and finally a financial screener at Staten Island University Hospital.
Marie volunteered with the Special Olympics and served as President of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch 277 and Fleet Reserve Association Ladies Auxiliary Branch 226.
Marie's presence could uplift spirits. A compassionate, caring, and loving soul, Marie brought happiness to all she encountered. Her capacity for love was mirrored in her relationships with family and friends alike.
Marie’s passing leaves an irreplaceable void, a reminder of the unprecedented impact and enduring bonds she nurtured with unwavering affection.
