Lars A. Bleivik Jr.

Lars A. Bleivik, Jr. of Grymes Hill, Staten Island, N.Y., died on Dec. 10, 2016, at SIUH of a long illness. He was born in Pittsfield, MA, on June 20, 1944. He grew up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and attended McKee High School on Staten Island. He worked for Con Edison as a high voltage lineman and was a 9/11 worker at Ground Zero. He would do electrical jobs in areas where others didn't want to go and especially enjoyed helping the Handmaidens of Mary Sisters because of their work with children. Lars was an EMT volunteer with the North Shore Ambulance for more than 35 years, serving as chief and a member of the board of directors. He was on original computer "geek," building his own before becoming a devoted Apple tech fan. He enjoyed photography, woodworking, target shooting and painting miniature figures. Among his favorite things were Corvettes, BMW motorcycles, hats, country-western clothes and music, expensive tools, jelly rings and Devil Dogs. Lars is survived by his mother, Dorothy Bleivik of Lexox, Mass.; his wife, Jane Kaczorowski of Grymes Hill; step-sons, Tom and Paul Kaczorowski of Manhattan; his brother, Dave Bleivik of Ellicott, Md.; his sister, Barbara Wilmot of Seattle, Wash.; his aunts, Sara Bleivik of Bay Ridge and Carolyn Hitchcock of Lee, Mass.; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and his best friend for over 50 years, Eddie Molloy. The family is planning a private memorial and celebration. In lieu of flowers friends are invited to make a donation to a charity of their choice.
