Jean Ann Casucci , age 92, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2024 . She was born on June 13, 1932, in Staten Island, New York to Joseph and Marianna Polizzi and lived a blessed life filled with an endless abundance of love from her devoted husband, Joseph.
Jean was raised in the neighborhood of Sunset Hill (West Brighton), enjoying life with her beloved sister Agnes (Nappi -deceased). She was a graduate of Port Richmond High School in Staten Island, NY.
Throughout her life, Jean touched the lives of many with her warmth and generosity. Her presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew her, and her memory will forever be treasured by her family and friends.
The legacy of her love lives on through the generations that they she nurtured beginning with their children, Stephen, Joseph (deceased), Daniel (wife, Nancy - deceased) AnnMarie Mercaldo (husband, Timothy), Jeanette Rasmussen (husband, Eric), and Larry.
Jean's motherhood was a testament to true unconditional love. She was also a very proud Grandmother of 6 grandchildren :
Jenna Flynn, Gabrielle Testa, Natalie Svendsen, Christie Lenahan (Mercaldo), Daniel and Matthew (Casucci).
She also was the blessed Great-Grandmother of 10:
Elleanora, Jameson, Oliver & Thaddeus (Flynn); Emilia & Michael (Testa); Alistair, Grey & Vera (Svendsen); Henry (Lenahan).
She loved nothing more than the company of her family. Jean will always be remembered for her ability to make everyone around her feel loved and cherished.
Jean and her husband Joseph, were one of the founding couples of Eden II, a non-profit, specialized school for autistic children (established in 1976).
Of her many talents, her giftedness as a seamstress was on display for all to see, as she sewed draperies and beautiful clothes for her daughters and granddaughters. Her gift of hospitality seemed never-ending, as the Casucci home was always open, hosting countless parties and holiday gatherings.
Joe and Jean raised their children in Sunnyside (Staten Island), retiring to the Poconos and Florida, enjoying many new friendships and, of course, their beloved family. Jean was an exceptional golfer, winning numerous awards and tournaments in both the Poconos and The Villages, FL.
Jean was known for her exceptional beauty, inside and out. While raising 5 children before the sixth was born, she earned her PhT (Put Hubby Through) as her husband completed an engineering degree at NYU while working full time and attending full time school.
Jean was the kind of woman everyone loved to be around, will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. She is now in heaven, having trusted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her family looks forward to the day when the joyful reunion occurs in eternity.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM (7:30 pm Memorial Service) at Harmon Funeral Home - 571 Forest Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10310 .
A brief service will occur Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 10:00 am (Harmon Funeral Home) with a burial to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery - 52 Tyler Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10310.
