James Joseph Lamb was born on March 19, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA, to Agnes and Fred Lamb. He passed away on March 4, 2016.
Visitation will be held in Staten Island at Harmon Funeral Home, 571 Forest Ave., Friday, March 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church, 53 St. Mark's Place, Saturday, March 12, at 12 noon.
James married Lois Hinderlie in 1977. The couple met in New York City and raised their three sons in the St. George neighborhood of Staten Island, N.Y.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, and by his three sons, Alexander "Sasha" (Teresa) of Austin, Texas; Charles of San Francisco, Calif., and Paul of New York, N.Y. James was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends, always ready to share a humorous story that would fill the room with laughter and love. There was a very special place in his heart for his two grandsons, Henry and Walter.
James shared a lifelong love of opera with his wife as a season ticket holder at the MET Opera for more than 50 years.
He was also a dedicated language teacher for over 40 years at various schools around New York City, including LaSalle Academy, St. Peter's Boys, Monsignor Farrell, Port Richmond, Xavier, and Brooklyn Technical.
James made friends everywhere he went and will be remembered for his warmth, wit, and charismatic personality.
