Dear Pauline,
Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of your wonderful husband, Greg.  I was at Mass this evening at Sacred Heart Church and Father Rhey asked all to pray for the soul of Gregory Culley.  I’m so sorry for your loss and wish I had heard sooner as I would have come to his wake and spoke to you in person.  I have many fond memories of Greg throughout the years when everyone was hanging out at Walker Park and I am so grateful to you both for coming to my brother Roy’s wake as I remember it was difficult for Greg walking but he was determined to be there.  It meant a lot and I will never forget . I will keep Greg in my prayers as I will you.

I’m Gregg’s first cousin Sean and we grew up together since we were babies.  We played a lot of games together and Gregg taught me a baseball flipping game where we flipped cards toward the stoop.  I think he always won but it was ok because they were his cards and I had nothing to lose!  Many of my cousins lived in close proximity so we played together most days.  Gregg taught me to play stick ball on Stebbins Ave. Lots of stories about childhood but I don’t think there’s enough room.  Gregg and I went to Curtis HS and there was a boy who caused me a lot of headaches in a harassing way.  I don’t know what Gregg said to this kid but he wouldn’t look at me and avoided me at all costs.  Another time I went to a party on Ave B with some friends.  It got very late and I wanted to leave but my friends didn’t so I was on my own at 17 years and didn’t know how to get home.  Gregg came over and said he would take me home.  I was so grateful.  It seemed like Gregg knew everyone on SI.  When I was working in the city and out with friends I would many times bump into Gregg.  Once I bumped into him in front of the Garden when Eric Clapton was giving a concert.  Gregg asked if I wanted tickets.  I was skeptical because some stranger offered tix but I said ok and it was one of the best concerts I ever went to, we had so much fun.  I’d like to share one more memory.  I will always remember Gregg and Pauline’s wedding and Gregg grinning ear to ear he was so in love with Pauline.

These few  words to send my warmest tboughts in this so sad moment you are living with the loss of your husband.  Melissa told me that he was  fighting against this terrible Parkinson desease, i unfortunately know as i lived it with my father.  He must  be in peace now.
I hope that those we love and left tbis earth all meet now together and are Looking after us as  caring angels!!!

Dear Pauline and all the friends and family of Gregg, his was a generous soul who was so gracious to me at the 2022 WSIA reunion at the Cargo Cafe when he told me the story about how my cousin was his union rep at the MTA.

He will be remembered for the gentle hero he is.

I am very sorry for your loss Pauline. 

Gregg was an inspiration. I remember much of his humor. He was a funny guy. He was also a very smart and loving person. He will be missed.

Greg & I were good friends. I worked w him at ps 69. We put up w each other because I was dating his best friend John Schmitt. I had my ups & downs w Greg but he was there for me. He helped John & I get together after 30 yrs. I'm upset to see him go  he will  be  missed. Oh, we performed kids on the block w him Hansen puppets. I live in FL but I saw him at ps69s reunion. He wrote in the reunion book. Kathy: may the saddest days of your future be no worst than the happiest days of your past. Love, Gregg

I first met Gregg in Curtis HS introduced by his West Brighton friend, Jim-Joe and we got along really great. I didn’t have a lot of friends but Gregg stands out for being friendly immediately.  We both endured Catholic Elementary and we could relate. Everything in those 4 years was a far cry from St Mary’s or his school.  Public High School in the late 60’s was very revolutionary in some ways. Later after Curtis we still remained friends and the inevitable pull to do something different got between us and our time in school. Eventually we reconnected I had been a Transit worker and went on to the Port Authority Police. I would occasionally see him with his bus in the city or on the Island. We laughed and joked, actually you always laughed with Gregg, about how life can throw you a curve ball but you still connect. RIP my old friend. And thanks for the memories of our youth your passing has upwelled in my tired soul. Anthony F Gattullo

It's been quite some time since the last time I saw Greg, but will always remember him as a sincere, happy go-lucky guy.

My condolences to family members and Pauline . Greg was special to me . He was their for me when I was in need of guidance from going on a bad path when I was young ! And  continued to remind me of a better path  for years . A true friend. ! God speed Greg and thank you!
