Dorothy Mazzella

Dorothy Marie Mazzella (Costello), born on January 18, 1934, in Staten Island, NY, passed away on October 8, 2024, in her beloved hometown. She dedicated over 30 years of her life as a secretary at Staten Island Aid for Children with Special Needs, where she made a lasting impact on her community.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Salvatore Mazzella. Dorothy was a devoted sister to Edward Costello, devoted mother to her son Michael Mazzella and his wife Linda, and to her daughter Mariann Kelty and her husband Christopher. She cherished her role as a Nonna to Lauren, Christina, and Courtney. She always found joy in spending time with her family and friends.

An adventurous spirit, Dorothy loved to travel, with a special fondness for her trips to Italy. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing cards and woodworking, hobbies that reflected her creativity and love for connection. She loved to share stories about her family and create new family traditions that could be passed down to the generations.

Dorothy is survived by her brother, children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the joyful memories she created with those she loved.

A visitation for Dorothy will be held Friday, October 11, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Casey Funeral Home, 350 Slosson Ave, Staten Island, NY 10314.

A religious ceremony will occur Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Sylvester Roman Catholic Church, 856 Targee St, New York, NY 10304.

A committal service will occur Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Peter's Cemetery, 52 Tyler Ave, New York, NY 10310.
