On November 27, 2022 Angela Villanueva Tumambing passed away peacefully at the age of 89. She was surrounded by her loving family at her home in Staten Island, New York. Angela was born to Cornelio Villanueva and Stanslava De Guzman in Santo Tomas, La Union, Philippines on February 24, 1933.
She is survived by her son Victor Jr. and daughter Lorna, whom she raised with her husband Victor Mangurali Tumambing Sr. in the Philippines and in America and their respective spouses Eleanor and Nicholas. She is also survived by her grandchildren Victor Christopher III, Junelle Angelique, Victor Nicholas and Abby Rose.
She was a grade school teacher in the Philippines and worked for many years at Hertz Corporation in New York City and eventually retired from there.
Angela was not only a mother to her two children and grandmother to her four grandchildren, but she was also known to many as “Mommy” and they addressed her as such. She was kind and caring to everyone she met and displayed that motherly quality always making sure that you were all right and also letting you know when you did something wrong. She was never at a loss for words and spoke her mind. She was a great cook of Filipino cuisine and always made sure you had enough to eat. Although Angela was mainly a homebody she always made an effort to go back home to the Philippines and visit with her relatives.
On that note, let us celebrate and remember Angela’s 89 wonderful years of life with fond memories and happy times!
