Steven Bruce Schorr, 70, of New Rochelle, NY, passed away Saturday March 1st at his daughter’s residence in Stamford, CT surrounded by his loving family. Steven was born May 21st, 1943 in the Bronx to parents Martin and Celia Schorr. He received his Associates degree from Norwalk Community College and was a manager in the service industry for many years. Steven proudly served honorable duty for his country during the Vietnam War. An avid and devoted fan of the New York Yankees, he loved all New York sports teams. Steven used his favorite phrase “on there” in many different contexts. A wonderful father, Steven was very proud of his daughters Michele Taylor and Heather Mazarakos. He was often telling people of Michele being and RN at and pursuing her Master’s degree and Heather’s career as a social worker for Vitas Hospice of Stratford, CT and Psychotherapy Associates of Stamford, CT. He will be missed greatly.
Steven was predeceased by his sister, Cynthia Schorr-Wexelbaum. Steven is survived by his daughters: Michele Taylor and her husband, Loyd, and Heather Mazarakos; grandchildren: Sean Taylor, Helena & Daniel Mazarakos, and Evan Taylor; Nephew Joshua Wexelbaum (Chicago) and niece, Stephanie Rosen Wexelbaum (Manhattan). The family would like to thank the Vitas Hospice of Stratford for their incredible and outstanding care, love, and support.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 4th 2014 at 11:30 at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St. Stamford, CT 06905 with interment following at Beth Moses Cemetery in Long Island. Following interment, Shiva will begin at the Mazarakos residence on 1400 Bedford St. Unit#1 in Stamford and last all week.
