He was Born in Manhattan, NY, on December 20, 1956. He was the only son of Ms. Catalina Crespo. He attended Clinton High School in NYC. He was employed at Shelter for the Homeless/Pacific House for over 30 years. He was the Sr. Bilingual Counselor/Advocate. While attending Clinton High School he joined Espada, this youth organization supplied support to the students in the form of counseling and advocacy. As Sam faithfully volunteered and gave his time to this program his counseling and student advisory skills were sharpened as he learned this craft. Sam became an asset working as a student Advisor/Counselor for Espada. Sam remained connected to Espada throughout high school and college.
Sam was a member of Life Chapel in Queens, NY. He will always be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and empathetic nature. He would take the time to listen and shared his wisdom with those who would seek him out for guidance. Sam walked with the Lord he made time to read the Word of God and pray. He was a very unique person and we are all the better for knowing him. Trains were his passion, he was designing a railroad and a town, the design plans remain untouched in his work area. However, on August 8th, 2022 at 1:00 PM he got on the Glory train for home.
Sam is survived by Miriam (Fortt) Pacheco; William Fortt, brother-in-law; Heath Campanelli, son; Zayden Campanelli, grandson; Catalino Crespo, mother; Jose Pou, sister; Nellie Alejandro, niece; Felix Carreras, nephew; a host of godchildren.
